 In-Grown

Canoeing through a shady spot at Wekiwa Springs, Apopka (Florida)

christine: Wekiwa Springs was a gorgeous little spot we found to escape the family-friendly hubbub of Orlando and Disney. It's little more than an hour's drive and canoes can be rented for as little as $2 for the afternoon.

This isn't to say it's a definite workout weaving around the logs, both above and below the water's surface. We found ourselves grounded more times than we'd like to admit. And then there was the couple that hit us with their canoe in a way that flipped our boat and all of its contents (ourselves and our cameras included) into the sometimes alligator-inhabited water. Thankfully our camera gear didn't get too wet and the alligators stayed away.

Still worth the fun. Just don't forget to keep your cameras in waterproof cases!
