A boar scarer amidst the Butchart Garden's Japanese Garden.
A boar scarer is a clever device that slowly fills with water, which weighs it down so that it automatically empties out the water and returns back to its original position with a large *thud*. Although I don't think there are any boars to scare away here, they are found in many Japanese Gardens.
