Rock of Bathsheba
 Rock of Bathsheba

The beach at Bathsheba, Eastern Barbados

christine: We stopped at Bathsheba for a picnic before making our way to Andromeda Botanical Garden. A charming little fishing village, the beaches were incredible but unswimmable. A strong wind carried over the Atlantic from Africa brought in amazing waves, which makes it a popular destination for surfers.

While the others popped into the pub for a little Sunday afternoon rum break, Sim's cousin Emma and I took a quick walk down the street shop run by a drunken-yet-friendly American who came down to Barbados 20 or so years ago and decided to stay permanently. He didn't have much to sell, but his perspective on how the tourism affecting the native Bajans was thought-provoking.

Nice image! I haven't been there in awhile but have a shot taken from the church to the south hanging on my wall. Thanks for bringing back some pleasant memories!

Lovely picture. I love Barbados and Bajans, especially the rugged east coast. It's one of my all time favourite places. Haven't made it over there this year (yet!), this picture bring my one step closer.
