A Snake on a Pane
 A Snake on a Pane

Parassinikkadavu Snake Park, near Kannur (Kerala), India

christine: We went out tonight with friends to see the new groaner of a movie called "Snakes on a Plane". And it lived up to its title and little else, but a lot of laughter. All in good fun, right?

Still feeling a bit squeamish from seeing all those slithering creatures, I couldn't resist pulling this shot out of our archives and team it with a "tongue in cheek" title.

I saw this cold-blooded creature at a small snake park we visited while traveling in India. What was notable about it was that the snakes were mainly built on donation. And by donation I mean most were snakes caught troubling terrorizing the locals. This particular snake, as memory recalls, was a viper.

Moral of the story? If you're going to hike in Indian backwoods, don't forget the anti-venom. Eesh.

Snakes are my pet fear. Oddly, I adore lizards, geckoes and those dragon-looking things which are so similar in many ways . . but have legs. Legs is fine! Great pic and story.
