Protecting the Little One
 Protecting the Little One

A family of wild elephants, Munnar (Kerala), India
Submission for this week's Thursday Challenge theme, family.

christine: While taking a scenic drive around the hills and valleys of Munnar, we caught in the corners of our eyes a family of wild elephants crossing a large valley down below. Given that finding wild elephants is a rare sight for us, we begged to pull over and got out for a look and (of course) proper photo ops. We never did see their faces, as they walked slowly farther into the distance, but it added to the exquisite beauty of Munnar and gave us pause to remark at such a splendid show of mother nature.
Canon EOS 20D: 400mm (640mm) f/5.6 1/400" ISO 200 Capture time: 2005-04-20 23:20:18

Absolutely love this shot! Aesthetically and more so because I love elephants...
Great shot on so many different levels..

:)

If it was not for our Lateral Viewing powers from a speeding car we won't have seen & captured such a amazingly beautiful snapshot of Mother Nature.....Feel so very lucky to have seen such a sight...

This is an amazing image, because the elephants are positioned perfectly and the grass is deeply saturated and shines. A great entry for the family theme!

A great perspective and I love the contrast of the grey against the wonderful green!
