Mast & sail on a Beneteau boat, sailing around the Gulf Islands, British Columbia
Submission for this week's Photo Friday theme, masterpiece.

christine: As summertime draws near, so does the prime sailing season. As Sim's parents own a sailboat, we always look forward to spending at least a little time with them out in open waters. Unfortunately, each year I also do my best to find my sea legs, as I end up with a handful of bruises from bumping into everything while the seasoned sailers chuckle.

It is a great idea to just show the white sail in contrast to the light blue sky. The centered composition makes the sail appear very solid. Must be so beautiful out in open waters.

You inspire me to share some of our photos of our sailing excursions in the next days and weeks.. of course, I still hold out my hopes for spotting the elusive yet majestic orca whale.

I love the colors and the form, the shapes lead the eye skyward to the heavens. To me this image feels like an abstract representation of a church spire pointing to the heavens.
