Glacial Visit (I)
 Glacial Visit (I)

Angel Glacier, atop Mount Edith Cavell, Jasper National Park, Alberta

The mount is named after Edith Cavell, the British nurse who was captured by the German army in World War I for assisting allied soldiers in escaping from occupied Belgium to neutral Netherlands.

In 1915, she was arrested and executed by firing squad for her actions. Her death, ultimately, achieved her martyrdom among Allied forces and made her an important figure of the WWI era.

Congrats on the ‘Tilted 200!! : This sure is a big landscape to behold.
And thanks for the Edith reminder : we tend to think the horrors of today are something new . . .

My goodness, another lovely image. So barren it looks warm and then you are suddenly greeted by that wedge of ice.

n.b. could you rig this so it remembers my details?
